Outdoor Debris Burning is Open – October 1, 2019

June 7th, 2019

You must obtain a burn permit for any and all burning.  Permits are free and available online through the La Pine Rural Fire Protection District website (lapinefire.org) or outside the front door at any of the district’s fire stations.  Please call the burn line before burning at (541) 536-9056 to verify it is a burn day.

Requirements for burning:

Debris piles are to be no larger than 15′ wide and 6′ tall.  They must be 50′ from any structure (including decks) and 25′ from property lines, trees, and other piles.  All burn piles must be out by dark.

Campfires and warming fires must be in fire rings no larger than 30 in diameter and 15′ from the edge of trees.  Please use only cut firewood and/or charcoal briquettes.

A shovel and rake, working water hose which reaches the fire or several 5-gallon buckets of water or a 4A-rated fire extinguisher are required at every fire.

The fire must be attended by an able-bodied person at all times and be dead out before you leave the site.

The weather must be watched closely as you burn.  If high or gusty winds or high temperatures are expected, burning must stop immediately.

No garbage or any other man-made materials may be burned.

Additional requirements are listed on the burn permit form.
